Factors That Causes Receding Gums, Knowing Them Preventing The Condition

There are several factors that causes gums to recede. Unhealthy habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol intake, vigorous brushing, mouth trauma, unfitted dental appliance and the most common is periodontal disease. Often early symptoms of receding gums are being neglected for until pain and discomfort are experienced and a need for a receding gums treatment is necessary. Because receding gums is a periodontal disease symptom if left untreated may progress to periodontitis which is a more serious case of dental health problem.

Adult are more prone to gum recession as they age and people who have thinner gums are at more risk, however your dentist can address these issues. It is necessary to visit your dentist. Superior oral hygiene is one effective way of preventing receding gums and other forms of gum disease.
